This cable railing extended an existing run of stainless steel cables and powder coated steel stanchions along a new staircase and walkway below the edge of the infinity pool. The cantilevering gates met building code requirements with minimal visual obstructions. All components were designed to replicate the detailing of the existing guardrail.

The thin 3/16″ flat bars used for this railing give the piece a very light, nearly invisible presence from certain perspectives. But two different widths of bar were used in varying planes of the railing. As your eye turns the corner the railing presents a dynamic nature as these varying widths reveal the varied massing.

The steel is blackened and clear coated to contrast nicely with the white painted woodwork.

A special patina was applied to give this steel railing the look of aged copper.
